TRB Webinar: Accessing the SHRP 2 Safety Data: User Responsibilities and Access Procedures

TRB conducted a webinar on July 27, 2015 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm ET that described how to access TRB’s second Strategic Highway Research Program’s (SHRP 2) Naturalistic Driving Study (NDS) safety data and the responsibilities that users have with protecting personally identifiable information of volunteers who participated in the study. View the slides and recorded webinar.

The SHRP 2 NDS database contains real-time, in-vehicle information gathered from more than 3,500 volunteer drivers in six sites across the United States. In total, the database contains 5.5 million trips covering almost 33 million vehicle miles over 4,300 vehicle years.

The webinar summarized the role of the Institutional Review Board and provide database users with guidance to help them protect personally identifiable information. The webinar explored how users may access the data and what licensing procedures are involved.

TRB conducted a webinar on March 11, 2014 about the SHRP 2 Naturalistic Driving Study (NDS). It is recommended to view the recorded webinar in advance. The slides from the March 11, 2014 webinar are available online.

Contact Reggie Gillum at RGillum@nas.edu for instructions on receiving a copy of the recorded webinar.
