TRB Webinar: Resources for Evaluating Airport Sustainability Practices

TRB conducted a webinar on July 28, 2015, from 2:00pm to 3:30pm ET that featured research conducted by TRB’s Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) on resources for planning, implementing, sharing, and rating sustainability practices at airports.

This webinar provided 1.5 Continuing Education Units for Accredited Airport Executives. This webinar has been approved by the American Institute of Certified Planners for 1.5 Certification Maintenance Credits.

  1. ACRP Project 02-30: Enhancing the Airport-Industry Sustainable Aviation Guidance Alliance (SAGA) Website
    • The different ways to use the interactive SAGA website to plan and implement meaningful sustainability practices and to share lessons learned with the industry
    • The new SAGA set is a framework to enable people of all backgrounds, positions, and sustainability knowledge to learn, plan, share, measure, and search for sustainability practices
  2. ACRP Report 119: Prototype Airport Sustainability Rating System—Characteristics, Viability, and Implementation Options
    • A framework upon which a comprehensive airport-centric sustainability rating system can be built
    • The features of a sustainability rating system specifically developed for airports, options for implementing the rating system and a certification program, and how to evaluate the viability of implementation and adoption
  3. 3.Question and answer session
The first 60 minutes of the webinar were for presentations and the final 30 minutes were reserved for audience questions.


Learning Objectives
At the end of this webinar, participants were able to:
  • Explain how to search for, and contribute to, sustainability information;
  • Discuss the components of an airport-specific prototype sustainability rating system for individual airports; and
  • Describe the methods for assessing environmental performance.

To report your CM credits, visit www.planning.org/cm
  1. Login using your ID# and password
  2. Select My CM log
  3. Select Add Credits
  4. Under Browse you have the option of searching by Date, Provider, or Distance Education and using the search box to type in the name of the event or activity and clicking go
  5. A pop-up box will appear. If this is a multi-part event you will have the option to select from a list of activities
  6. Please rate, add a comment (optional), and click on the Ethics statement and answer
  7. Click submit and the CM credits should appear in your CM log
