TRB conducted a webinar on May 18, 2015, from 1:00pm to 2:30pm ET that covered the application of the Stochastic Empirical Loading and Dilution Model (SELDM) in Oregon and Massachusetts. SELDM was developed by the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, help analyze the potential effects of runoff on receiving waters. It facilitates the environmental decision making process by providing results of data mining and analysis efforts for precipitation, receiving-water stormflows, and receiving-water quality by ecoregion.
SELDM may reduce the time for stormwater analyses necessary to deliver highway projects. It has been implemented by two state departments of transportation: Massachusetts and Oregon. Both offer case studies in how SELDM can be used to quickly assess potential effects of runoff on receiving waters.
This webinar was organized by the TRB Standing Committee on Hydrology, Hydraulics and Water Quality.
A certificate for 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) was provided to attendees who registered and attended the webinar as an individual. This webinar has been approved by the American Institute of Certified Planners for 1.5 Certification Maintenance Credits. Contact Reggie Gillum at
RGillum@nas.edu for instructions on receiving a copy of the recorded webinar.
