Review of FAA’s Integration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems into the National Airspace System
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of Inspector General has released a report that considers the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) efforts to mitigate safety risks for integrating unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) into the national airspace system. In addition, the report evaluates FAA’s progress and challenges in meeting UAS requirements cited in the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012.
