TRB conducted a webinar on April 14, 2015, from 1:00pm to 2:30pm ET that summarized
NCFRP Report 28: Sustainability Strategies Addressing Supply Chain Air Emissions, which identifies potential strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from supply chains. Webinar presenters addressed how to collaborate across the supply chain, whether it is through public-private partnerships, engaging the private sector, or embedding new practices in traditional business operations.

- PART 1: How fuel savings programs, carbon disclosure programs (e.g., EPA’s SmartWay), and collaboration with other market participants may be able to save costs and reduce emissions
- PART 2: How partnerships at local level are helping improve freight sustainability
- PART 3: How collaboration across the supply chain has helped the public realize improved air quality
- PART 4: Question and answer session
The first 60 minutes of the webinar will be for presentations and the final 30 minutes will be reserved for audience questions. The Registered Continuing Education Program (RCEP) categorizes this webinar activity as relating to health, safety, and welfare including core technical.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Explain the structure and data development process of EPA’s SmartWay, and how it has shifted shipper and carrier interactions in the marketplace;
- Describe current collaborative trends in the transportation sector, including setting standards for sustainability across the supply chain;
- Summarize the implications of carbon emissions reductions on human health and improvements to the bottom line, labor standards, and efficiency in business operations; and
- Discuss challenges in capturing further segments of the supply chain in carbon emissions reductions activities.

Professional Development Hour Information
A certificate for 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) will be provided to Professional Engineers (PEs) who register and attend the webinar as an individual. For groups, only the person that registers and attends the session will receive a PDH certificate.

Please check with your licensing board to ensure that TRB webinar PDHs are approved by your board.
