SHRP 2 NDS User Experience Webinar Series: Map-Matching the NDS and the RID
The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) will host a webinar on March 30, 2016, from 12:00p.m - 1:00 p.m. that will explore ways to use the second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2) Safety Data. Presenters will describe map-matching techniques to combine data from the Naturalistic Driving Study (NDS) and Roadway Information Database (RID). This webinar is the second of a series geared towards helping the user community discuss the use of SHRP 2 Safety Data.
Attendees should enter their name and email into the
VTTI meeting site to join the meeting. The webinar is open to anyone interested in this topic, and no pre-registration is necessary. Questions should be directed to

The SHRP 2 NDS was a three-year data-collection effort that produced driving data for over 3,000 drivers, including over 1,500 crashes and nearly 3,000 near-crashes. A companion database, the SHRP 2 RID provides transportation safety professionals with access to data that are linkable to the SHRP 2 NDS database. Accessible with Geographic Information System (GIS) tools, the RID provides road elements for safety research on a sizeable portion of the 5.5 million trips taken by the NDS participants. The combination of NDS and RID data enables researchers to fully explore relationships between driver, vehicle, and roadway.
