TRB's Airport Cooperative Research Program has announced FY 2023 projects and will be filling seats for project oversight panels. Nominate individuals with expertise directly relevant to the research by September 19. Please help identify panelists representing a diversity of experience and expertise.


Submit Your Research on Transport for Inclusive Societies

Policy makers need insights from researchers to understand and solve challenges around transportation for inclusive societies. Submit your paper by September 30 for inclusion in a special collection in Transportation Research Record (TRR). Papers on climate change mitigation and adaption, inclusive decision-making, accessible and safe digitally-enabled innovations, and funding public and active transportation in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic will all be considered.

  • Better lighting, rapid flashing beacons, and LED "crossing" signage could be a big safety help, especially for seniors. A Transportation Research Record journal article on the topic has been highlighted in lots of media coverage, including the Sioux City (Iowa) Journal.
  • One special education bus in Hall County, Georgia has been retrofitted with an air-filtration system that includes an ultraviolet C light meant to deactivate the virus that causes COVID-19, as recommended by the National Academies, notes Government Technology.
