Gene Russell Recipient of the 2022 Robert E. Skinner, Jr. Award

Eugene R. (Gene) Russell, Sr., Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering, Kansas State University, is the recipient of the 2022 Robert E. Skinner, Jr. Award for the indelible mark he has left on transportation through his 60 years of research management at Iowa State University, Purdue University, and Kansas State University. The award will be presented during the Chair's Plenary Session on Wednesday, January 11 at the 2023 TRB Annual Meeting.

CalTrans Produces Video About NCHRP Process

Dara Wheeler, Chief of the Division of Research, Innovation, and System Information at CalTrans, has produced this informative video to show staff how valuable it is to submit problem statements to TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program. Problem statements are due by October 20 and must be submitted by a state department of transportation, an AASHTO committee, or the Federal Highway Administration.

Oil in the Sea IV (National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine). Oil in runoff, primarily from cities and vehicles, is the top source of oil entering the ocean. In North American waters, estimated ocean oil pollution from land-based runoff is up to 20 times higher than it was 20 years ago.
