News for You

Managed Lanes and Traffic Congestion

Sitting in traffic is nothing new, but the ways we try to clear congestion have evolved. Chuck Fuhs managed a 10-mile-long contraflow lane experiment in Houston, Texas starting in the 1970s. Don't miss his Deen Lecture and find resources for the free flow of vehicles on roadways and byways in our blog.

Nominate Yourself or Other Panelists for TCRP Research Projects

TRB's Transit Cooperative Research Program has announced FY 2023 research projects and will be filling seats for project oversight panels. Nominate individuals with expertise directly relevant to the research by February 3. Please help identify panelists representing a diversity of experience and expertise.

National Academies Resources on U.S. Energy Grid

Recent incidents have exposed vulnerabilities in the U.S. electric power system, which is made up of millions of components distributed across the continent. The National Academies have many resources aimed at better understanding the grid’s susceptibility, and how it can be improved and made more resilient to physical and cyberattacks, natural disasters, and other adverse events.

TRB In the News

Kittelson.JPG

  • Kittelson is sending 60 people to the TRB Annual Meeting in DC next month. The company has a great preview of what to expect at the world's largest transportation research conference, and designed a graphic (above) on "the cycle of research."
  • Government Technology rounds up the research - including a recent report from TRB's Behavioral Transportation Safety Cooperative Research Program - that makes a case for better infrastructure for e-scooters.
