ACRP Paints a Picture of Airport Arts Programs

Arts program structures vary from airport to airport, but even so, similarities exist across these programs. A survey as part of ACRP Synthesis 135: Methods of Airport Arts Program Management, released this week from TRB's Airport Cooperative Research Program, found all survey respondents agreed or strongly agreed that their airport arts programs contribute to a positive customer experience. Among the same 51 respondents, all but one airport agreed or strongly agreed that their airport arts programs create a sense of place and are important to their airports. More than 90% of respondents felt that an airport arts program creates a sense of home for local travelers, creates a relationship between the airport and the local community and stakeholders, and has a social impact.

TRB and the National Academies have a wealth of resources to help airports improve visits from their customers.

Distracted Driving Resources Available from TRB

Buckle Up Phone Down Day is tomorrow (October 30), so it's a good time to take a look at TRB's Snap Search on distractions, which includes all the research you need on the topic from 2020 to now.

Submit Proposals for Rail Safety

TRB's Rail Safety Innovations Deserving Exploratory Analysis (IDEA) program provides funding at an early stage of the development process for promising but unproven innovative concepts and methods. Proposals are permitted up to $130,000. Follow the instructions and send in your proposal documents by December 15.

Find Timely Transportation Research

Advanced search filters in both the Transport Research International Documentation (TRID) and Research in Progress (RIP) databases offer enhanced searching by date. Use the new "Custom date range slider" to specify how far back you’d like to search with a wider range of selections now available. Alternatively, use the "before" and "after" boxes to indicate your date range.

In RIP, you can search by:
•    project start date
•    project created date
•    project completed date

TRB In the News

Streetsblog article.JPG

Streetsblog, in a feature about a recent TRB/National Academies consensus report, asks why America has so much road safety research, but so little actual safety.

A long-held assumption that the trucking industry is short of drivers may not necessarily be the case, reports Overdrive, in an article about another recent TRB/National Academies consensus report.
