Today we honor veterans. Yet veterans report that a lack of transportation is a barrier to getting health care after returning home from conflict. Transit agencies across the country have implemented solutions to meet this challenge. The concepts of transportation coordiation and mobility management have been a proven foundation for serving this populations for more than 10 years, as found in TRB's Transit Cooperative Research Program's TCRP Report 164: Community Tools to Improve Transportation Options for Veterans, Military Service Members, and Their Families.
Transportation also works hand-in-hand with military services in other ways. Resiliency practices and processes from the National Guard and others that airports can adapt and leverage for their own facilities and in partnerships with co-located military facilities are delineated in the Airport Cooperative Research Program's ACRP Synthesis 133: Identifying Military Resources and Strategies to Improve Civilian Airport Resiliency.
