SHRP 2 Reliability Program Brief: January 2011
    1/31/2011 5:00:00 AM
TRB’s second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2) has released the latest version of its Reliability Program Brief, which summarizes recent progress within the Reliability area of SHRP 2. Reliability research in SHRP 2 addresses the root causes of unpredictable travel times by focusing on highway system operations. Travel time reliability, which is valued for many reasons, is compromised by unexpected congestion. Reducing this nonrecurring congestion can help transportation agencies impr...

SHRP 2 Renewal Program Brief: December 2010
    1/31/2011 5:00:00 AM
TRB’s second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2) has released the latest version of its Renewal Program Brief, which summarizes recent progress within the Renewal area of SHRP 2. The goal of Renewal research in SHRP 2 is to advance the methods and materials that transportation agencies can use to renew the nation’s vital but aging highway system even as we continue to use and live next to it.

SHRP 2 Safety Program Brief: December 2010
    1/31/2011 5:00:00 AM
TRB’s second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2) has released the latest version of its Safety Program Brief, which summarizes recent progress within the Safety area of SHRP 2. Safety research in SHRP 2 will apply advanced technologies to understand how drivers interact with and adapt to a variety of factors—the vehicle, the traffic, the roadway characteristics, traffic control devices, and the environment—and to assess the changes in collision risk associated with each factor.

SHRP 2 Safety Brief: December 2008
    12/1/2008 3:32:13 PM
Safety research in SHRP 2 will apply advanced technologies to understand how drivers interact with and adapt to a variety of factors—the vehicle, the traffic, the roadway characteristics, traffic control devices, and the environment—and to assess the changes in collision risk associated with each factor. Continuous collection of a vast array of data from approximately 4,000 volunteer drivers located in multiple sites throughout the United States over a two-year period will support a study of the entire d...

SHRP 2 Reliability Brief: December 2008
    12/1/2008 3:24:44 PM
Reliability research in SHRP 2 addresses the root causes of unpredictable travel times by focusing on highway system operations. Travel time reliability, which is valued for many reasons, is compromised by unexpected congestion. Reducing this nonrecurring congestion can help transportation agencies improve travel time reliability even as traveldemand grows. The current research plan ensures a forward-looking focus on these goals and strengthens links between related projects.

SHRP 2 Capacity Brief: December 2008
    12/1/2008 3:19:56 PM
The objective of Capacity Research in SHRP 2 is to develop tools for systematically integrating environmental, economic, and community requirements into the analysis, planning, and design of new highway capacity. The flagship product of the Capacity focus area will be a web-based collaborative decision-making framework (CDMF) that will ensure that the right people are involved in decision making at the right times with the right information. The objective is to arrive at better transportation solutions f...
