Practices for Bioretention Stormwater Control Measures
Bioretention stormwater control measure (BSCM) runoff treatment provides several benefits
over other stormwater control measures (SCMs)
and is increasingly used by state
departments of transportation (DOTs) to help manage stormwater to meet stormwater permit
requirements.
The TRB National Cooperative Highway Research Program's
NCHRP Synthesis 599: Practices for Bioretention Stormwater Control Measures
documents DOT practices for the implementation and use of
BSCMs.
Supplemental to the report is a
zipped file of state DOT resources that were submitted in response to the project survey.
NCHRP is sponsored by the individual state
departments of transportation of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
NCHRP is administered by the Transportation Research Board, part of the National Academies of Sciences,
Engineering, and Medicine, under a cooperative agreement with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
Any opinions and conclusions expressed or implied in resulting research products are those of the
individuals and organizations who performed the research and are not necessarily those of TRB;
the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine; the FHWA; or NCHRP sponsors.
