TRB Webinar: Design Guidelines for Bridges Subjected to Light Rail Transit Loads
TRB conducted a webinar on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM ET that featured research from the
National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP)’s
Research Report 851: Proposed AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications for Light Rail Transit Loads.
This webinar described the behavior of light rail transit bridges, live loads and their associated forces, rail-train-structure interaction, and load factor calibration to implement the Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) method. The presenter explained how to design light rail bridges that adhere to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Guide Specifications for Light Rail Bridges.
