Video: Strategic War Games at the 2018 TRB Annual Meeting

The 2018 TRB Annual Meeting hosted its first Strategic War Game, and a new video has been released to summarize this year's event. War games are fast-paced simulations involving teams that represent a market or customer, a set of competitors, and a series of other uncontrollable factors or entities. At this year’s TRB Annual Meeting, eight teams worked in an interactive environment to develop pitches for how technology, public policy, and market forces could align to achieve the greatest societal benefits. Judges from across the transportation industry evaluated the pitches based on their energy outcomes, equity, land use, and safety. Because organizers often pair the war game process with scenario planning for stronger results, the Strategic War Game session built upon the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Foresight 750 Series, which utilized a comprehensive scenario planning exercise.
