Greenhouse Gas Reduction Strategies in the Transport Sector

The Joint Transportation Centre of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the International Transport Forum have released a preliminary report that explores strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transport activity. The final report is due out in the spring of 2009.

Pyke Johnson Award

In 1971 the Executive Committee established the Pyke Johnson Award, which may be given annually for the outstanding paper published in the field of transportation systems planning and administration. It honors the 23rd chairman of the Highway Research Board, who was highly influential and active in the affairs of the Board from its inception; he attended the organizational meeting in November 1920. In June 1972, the Executive Committee created an award designed to recognize people who have given leadership and distinguished service to the Board but who have not necessarily been personally active in transportation research.
