Young Member Council – Aviation (YMC-A) Member Spotlight

Submit Proposals for Rail Safety

TRB's Rail Safety Innovations Deserving Exploratory Analysis (IDEA) program provides funding at an early stage of the development process for promising but unproven innovative concepts and methods. Proposals are permitted up to $100,000. Follow the instructions and send in your proposal documents by December 15. 

Alcohol at Sea: Call for Experts

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is seeking suggestions for experts to participate in a new study that will inform public policies concerning the possession and consumption of alcohol by crew members and other personnel aboard commercial vessels of the United States. As appropriate, the committee will make recommendations for changes in federal regulations and other policies that govern alcohol possession and consumption by personnel aboard U.S. commercial vessels and that support best practices to ensure a safe and secure workplace free of alcohol misuse. Submit your suggestions by November 21, particularly those with expertise in:

• Vessel Operations and Management
• Marine Safety Management Systems
• Maritime Labor
