ACRP Problem Statement Submission

Airport practitioners are encouraged to submit problem statements (research ideas) focused on specific challenges facing the industry. ACRP offers several means for conducting research, so please select the one most closely matching your idea. See below for previous problem statements, tips, and tutorials.

Research Projects
focus on developing guides, tools, and databases. Timeline: 1½ to 2 years. Funding: $300,000 and $600,000. FY26 submission deadline: April 7, 2025.

Synthesis Topics focus on problems that airports face, but information regarding current practice is scattered and has yet to be documented in a single state-of-practice report. Timeline: 1 year. Funding: $75,000. FY26 submission deadline: September 8, 2025.

Legal Topics focus on legal and regulatory issues the airport industry faces. Results are added to ACRP's Legal Research Digest series. Timeline: 1 to 1 ½ years. Funding: $75,000 and $115,000. FY26 submission deadline: August 25, 2025.

Quick Response Projects
provide urgent, focused research leading to findings and guidelines. Timeline: 1 year. Funding: $125,000. Submissions considered quarterly.

First Look Projects describe emerging and urgent issues, including potential challenges and opportunities, regulatory and legal context, and future research needs. Timeline: 6 months. Funding: $50,000. Submissions considered quarterly.

Insight Events are in-person events that bring together airport industry leaders, subject matter experts, and researchers to discuss emerging topics of significance to airport operators and to identify needed research. Timeline: 1 year. Funding: $180,000. FY26 submission deadline: April 7, 2025.
